It's been too long, I know I know.  I suck.

I've decided that April 16th I believe, is the day that I'll be competing.  I will start training the first day in December.  I'll be in Arkansas with family for thanksgiving, and this girl is GOING to eat good.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, so it's great that it will be the last week that I eat that much!

I've been so busy and I am SO GLAD that this semester is almost over.  I have not been doing that well. In the beginning of the semester I didn't do as well as I should have which has been leaving me playing "catch up" all semester.
Now that I switched majors, I am looking forward to next semester, and a semester of all A's! (:

It's now November, and Halloween was fun!
I ate no candy!

I'm going to miss going to pumpkin patches, bonfires, and playing in the leaves. 
It's such a beautiful day outside today, and I know that soon I will be bundled up.

Well, I should be studying for a few tests.
So, stick with me through November, and then follow me as I embark on my journey in December!

Good Morning to everyone!

It's crazy that it's almost November!
Where has this year gone to?  It's been a heck of a year, but I'm more than ready to see what 2013 has to offer, since 2012 was one of the best years yet!

I've been packing my bags for Arkansas. I'm leaving on Thursday and getting back on Monday.  I am SO thankful for this mini vacation.  One of my cousins are getting married to the love of her life, and I am SO EXCITED to see how beautiful she's going to look!
This is the first wedding I've been to for a family member, so that makes me happy for more.
Plus, I only get to see my family once, maybe twice a year if I am lucky.  So, this is going to be fun.

Arkansas is completely flat.
There is one hill in like a 235809583459 mile radius, and that just so happens to be the levee around the town my grandparents live.  So, you best bet I am going to take advantage of running their flat land instead of running all the hills and MOUNTAINS here in West Virginia. haha.


Anyways, we all have inspiration.  My inspiration just to happens to be Courtney Prather.  She graduated from follege, and until recently, she's held a 9-5 desk job as a manager of a Hilton Hotel chain.
If anyone knows about being busy, it would be her.
But despite working 8 hour days and the normal hoopdaloo of a normal life, she still found time to eat healthy and train hard.
Which means, we all can.
I was reading a post of hers, and I hope you find this as encouraging as I did!

It's a new me

Sometimes life throws you curve balls that you won't understand until later.
It usually hurts like hell at first, but we all get over it eventually and learn to realize that better things are coming.
Thankfully, that is exactly what has happened to me.

I've gotten rid of a bunch of negativity in my life and I am a whole new person!
I won't go into the details.  Just understand that I could not be happier!

I'm so excited to see where my life takes me now!
I've finally realized that money and stress is worth nothing more but a grain of sand.
Thus being said, I've decided to do what makes ME happy. This applies to nearly every aspect of my life.  I'm more excited to say that I switched my major from Nursing, to a degree with a fitness and exercise science concentration.  I would LOVE to have a minor in health and nutrition, but I switched this semester, and I don't think I'll have the time to take another 18 credit hours.  That's always something I can go back for later! (;

Continuing on, I have been over whelmed with so many things in the past year of my life that I have lost track of myself. I would set goals for myself; Run my first 10k,set a date for my first bikini competition, clean eat for the next month.  But for some reason, all the stress would tell me, "You have to much to do tonight, you don't need to go for a run", "it's okay, you can have that fourth piece of fried chicken."

I have now surrounded myself with an amazing family, friends, and a boyfriend who wants nothing more than for me to be happy.  Which is why I am now realizing I don't have to do things to make other people happy.  When you surround yourself with people who love you, for you, you can do what makes YOU happy.  What an amazing feeling.

Throughout all the stress and anxiety I have accumulated over the past year or so, I still have keep active and watched what I've put into my body.  That's just me though.  You only have one body, so you better take care of it!

I'm more than ready to pursue my dreams of competing in my first bikini competition.
Lord knows I've been reading about them for the past two years.  I'm actually quite embarrassed I've talked about it for so long and haven't been able to come through with what I've set out to do!
This is the reason I am FINALLY telling people about this blog I've had for so long. I am now READY to show you guys what makes me happy!  I know with all the amazing friends I have, y'all will push me through it when times do get hard.

Uh yeah.

Yeah i've been working out in the gym at least once a day for the past few weeks.
BUT, that still isn't going to get me ready in time for my first bikini competition that's September 22, 2012.
That gives me five weeks and six days.
I'm starting to rethink maybe a later show. I'm not giving up, but I want my body to be PERFECT by the time I walk across that stage!

Yesterday I was super hungry, so when I got off work I ate a WHOLE SMALL pizza from PaPa Johns!  Ugh.. but boy was it good.
Afterwards I was like, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!"
At least I am being completley honest.  Everyone has flaws.

This week starts a new week, and though i've known about this show since July.. I am going to kick butt to make sure I am ready, at least up to par so i don't embarass myself.

I did go to the gym this morning, and I have been relaxing at home all day until I leave for work in about 10 minutes.

If i've learned anything, it's that you should never let yourself go hungry!
That's when you're most likely to indulge in things you shouldn't.
Take me for example!

Today has been a good day!
Started with some blue berries this morning,
 beans and grilled chicken,
right now I am eating four egg whites,
for dinner tonight I have grilled chicken, and haven't decided on vegetable yet.

Regardless, I am a lot happier now than I was feeling this time two years ago.  I am so thankful I am now more knowledgeable about what it's like to have a healthy lifestyle, and this will be continued!

I am feeling a lot better with my stomach, though i still need to lose some more body fat.
I'll decide after this week if I do this competition, or hold out until October.

Adventure Junkie

Well, the Yankees game was fun, no doubt!
Somehow they managed to lose to the Mariners 1-0,  I mean, come on now. I forgot the Mariners even existed! haha!






On the way back home, we stopped by Cabella's, which is now one of my favorite stores. It had so many animals, stuffed and live, that it tops bass pro shops 100-1!

On my boyfriends weekend, which is Tuesday-Wednesday, we visited his grandparents house.
It was in the middle of nowhere, but it was SO MUCH FUN! We didn't do anything! :D
Once we passed a pretty big city, we completely lost cell phone service, which was probably the best part!
We played some cornhole, shot some guns, admired some wildlife, and explored Seneca Caverns!
Oh boy did I eat a lot!
Thankfully, however, it was mostly freshly grown.  So, I stayed pretty healthy.

For some reason i've been up since 3:30 and can't go back to sleep.
So, i'll be hitting the gym up soon before getting some things done around the house.

The first step in achieving, is trying.

SO BUSY!

I apologize for is being so long since the last time i've written.  I have blogger on my ipad, but I don't always have internet!  Sometimes it sucks!

Anyways, since the last time i've written so much has happened!



First off, I got a new JEEP WRANGLER!
Unfortunately, now I actually have to pay for something.  But hey, it's alright. I like to think of it as a new toy. (:






The day after that my family took a three day vacation down to Virginia Beach, which was also, SO WORTH IT.  I also attempted to run on the beach. Which was great, however I didn't get very far.  My loose shorts would up getting wet and kept falling.  If it was socially acceptable to keep running in boy shorts, you best bet I would have said eff it, and keep going.


I am stable at 130, which is good.  To an extent I've been watching my weight still, just because I am uncertain on if I am going to do a show in September, or compete in a pageant at the end of August.  Oh, decisions, decisions.


July 30th was my babies first birthday.  When I say baby, I am speaking of my one year old chocolate lab!  He's the love of my life.  We went for a walk in Harpers Ferry, and started walking Maryland Heights, until it got too dark, then we turned around.  It's safe to say he had a great first birthday! <3
I just got back from a weekend beach trip with my boyfriend.  It was completely worth it 100 percent.  We've both been working out butts off lately!

Finally, I have to work here 11-3, babysit until I don't know how late, then tomorrow we will be getting up bright and early to go to a Yankees game!
Now, I am a Braves and Nationals fan. My brother is the Yankees fan.  I am just happy we are finally going to a game!  It's been WAY to long!

Up's and Down's

Of course life is all about the ups and downs you go through.

This past weekend I didn't do too good AT ALL.  I started back up alright again.

I went to a Luke Bryan Concert, which was no doubt the best concert I've ever been to!
He's the most gorgeous man to ever set foot on this Earth, seriously!

Then my boyfriend and I set off for a weekend in Ocean City!  Oh boy was it worth it!  It was so hot and the water was warm.  I want to go back so bad!  Buuuut, I've worked every day this week and I babysit after work.  Busy Busy!  I'll be back soon though.

On the health side of things, I've decided to try and run my first 10k in the September time frame.  I started training yesterday with walking a half mile and then running 2.2.  It's a start.  I figured I've ran my first 5k's at the beginning of this year, why don't I try for something bigger?
I like to set goals for myself, so when I achieve them, everything feels so great!
Well, I'll be back this evening and write up my training program for you guys, while I am babysitting.  For now, I have to leave and head back to work.

Okay everyone, well I am back after babysitting and the gym.
Just thought I would let y'all know that my computer did a reboot and my TRAINING plans for the next month got lost. Great huh?
But, here is this week, which I know off the top of my head:
Yesterday, run for 25 minutes, which was equal to about two and a half miles
Today, run two miles.
Tomorrow, off day!
Saturday, run 30 minutes
Sunday, off day!
Monday, run 3 miles.
Tuesday, off day!

Now, after going so long without running, and then starting up again.. Obviously you need time to rest your body.  I am training for seven weeks.  Each week has three days off to rejuvenate your body.
Remember, usually people tell you that carbs are bad.  Carbs are a runners best friend!
Though I feel like I am a 50 year old runner in a 19 year old body after I am done running, it feels great to sweat that much and feel like you've actually worked out!
When in all doubt, keep running!

Eventful

Oh my has it been an eventful week!

Off to Philly!
First let's start with Philly! It was SO freakin hot, but my boyfriend and I managed to keep truckin' despite the heat and his lack of sleep. We saw do many historical sights, including the liberty bell! Quite the sight since we were nearing independence day. I didn't get to see it up close, the line was too long. But seeing it through the glass was just the same thing for me. (;

Though I didn't make it to the gym, the amount of walking we did and swear we poured, pretty much was the equivalent of a workout in my book. (;

Fourth of July
Then came the fourth of July where you want to have a great time and enjoy the fireworks. Let's just end it at I witnessed a shooting and I'll never go back to that place again.

Today I am back on track rating healthy and working out. Mostly cardio still. Tomorrow I drive the 2.5 hours into Maryland to see my future husband Luke Bryan. If he goes missing.. It was all me. ❤

Oh it's hot!

After one crazy storm last night, we are one of the few people on the mountain who HAS NOT lost power. Boy am I SO thankful!

I took off today since I was planning on being in Morgantown for the miss west Virginia pageant. But instead, today has been full of playing with the dogs, staying cool, and being in the gym!
I wasn't fond of seeing naked people for once in the locker room. I assume they all came to the gym to shower since their power is out.. Haha.

I had a successful workout! 532 calories were burnt on the elliptical! I then proceeded with my usual legs and today I went harder on arms than I usually do. Today was a full two hour workout which I am very proud of. (:

I was starving though... So four chick fil a nuggets and a fruit cup later, here I am!

I usually take the weekend off from working out, but I didn't work out Friday because of other things I needed to get done.
Well, everyone have a safe and great weekend! I'll be back at it on Monday!
I'm going to Philly tomorrow and coming back Monday morning, work, then gym time.

Keep at it and you'll be as happy as I am now!

Concert Time!

Well, hello bloggers!

Today is going to be another cardio day for sure!  Hopefully my healthy eating habits stay with me today as I travel to Baltimore for a Dierks Bentley concert! Woooo!

&& You can't say no to that pretty face. (;
Country concerts are always a hoot! My friend and I are going to head down there early so that we can walk around and go exploring before the concert.  I'm not sure who is opening for him and I can't seem to find ANYTHING about it. Hmph.  I don't think anyone is. Which is a tad bit sad.  But oh well!

It's Wednesday!

Happy Hump day everyone!

It's so easy to dream about your perfect body, and it's so hard to achieve.
This morning I woke up and ate my breakfast, and have been researching shows, bikini models, tricks, and tips.  I swear the work never ends!

Yesterday was cardio day and arms.  I started with 32 minutes on a bike and then 30 minutes on the  elliptical.  Totals just on cardio I burnt 517 calories.  Which just covered my grilled chicken and vegetables I ate at Applebee's yesterday evening.

That's one thing you never really realize that when you are prepping for these shows, you can't just go out to eat all the time.  Which is one thing I am learning.  Though we go out to eat at restaurants fairly often, I am learning how to chose from the 400/500 calorie and below meals.  Which you'll eventually have to pay for later.

There is no excuses, this is a learning process.
Not using any scientific measurements and just using what my scale says; I weigh 132 with a body fat of 21.1.  Most bikini competitors have a body fat of about 10% or 11%.  Granted, with my scientific measurements my school did, I have a body fat percentage of 17%.  Which gets me a little closer to my goal.

Today is cardio again however.  The best way to lose that unwanted body fat is to eat your vegetables and do some hardcore cardio!
I'll take my dogs for a walk in a few minutes and then i'll hit the gym after work.
**Helpful hint**
I have the 50 Shades Of Grey series, no one says you have to cardio without a little entertainment.  I read while I am working out.  It makes time go by SO MUCH faster!

Happy Monday!

Well, I hope everyone made it through Monday alive!

 It feels great, I mean, GREAT getting back into the gym and back into a normal schedule.
I think part of the reason of going to the gym this week is because my boyfriend is out of town. :/

Today I focused yet again on legs and abs.  Since I did them last Friday, they had their time to rest.
The gym got this sweet machine called the ab slider, or something or another. 
It kinda looks exactly like this: 


But I am telling you, the thing does wonders!  I was on it for about 10 minutes, and I want to say I can see results immediately!  But then again, that's probably me just being overly excited about the new equipment. (:

Though I took my dogs for a mile and a half walk today, I don't necessarily call that cardio.
 So, tomorrow is CARDIO!
Remember, everything you intake, must be healthy!
Healthy food is not only good for your body, it's good for your overall health!

Today is Friday!  Happy Day everyone!
First of all the gym yesterday was killer.  I just worked legs, focusing on quads, hamstrings, and glutes!
Today is my ab day!


Whenever I have any doubt, I always find myself looking at inspirational quotes.  Hopefully they mean as much to you as they do to me!

This is not just a change, this is a change of life style.  Remember everything you put in your body won't just affect you now, but it will affect you YEARS from now!

On an exciting note, I printed out two of my competition applications and have them sitting on my night stand to remind me that I am doing this for myself!
I also think I picked out my competition bikini.  I thought normal bathing suits were expensive. Oh my gosh!  I'll buy the suit first, then worry about the shoes and jewelry.  I have to remember, I make minimum wage still! -_-

Off to do some abs, then off to an exciting weekend.

Slackin'

So, I obviously know a girl who is slackin'!  That girl would be me!
So much has happened and I have been so busy!

All in all, I was hoping to compete in July in my first bikini competition.  Needless to say, that DID NOT happen! haha!
After the hard realization that I just spent $800 to go on a cruise, you best bet I was going to enjoy EVERY SINGLE morsel of my FREE food.  Unlimited ice cream?  You best best I was at that machine three times a day.  (;

 I am so very lucky I've only gained a few pounds.  I still pretty much look the same though.  Thank goodness!
I've reevaluated my life and have decided to start training in hopes of Novemberish being my new competition timeline.
 I just got out of the shower and will be heading to the gym now!
Gotta get my butt back into the routine!

Seriously, how could you say no to all that amazing food?  Exactly, that's what I thought. (:

Well, I am out!  My current weight is 131.5 as of this morning, my goal weight being 120 by November!

Day Seven & Eight!

Well today is technically day eight.  I don't know how I left out yesterday!
My memory is so bad and I am only 19! oh gosh.

Anywho,
I am going to make this short and simple and elaborate later.

Yesterday's Workout:
3 sets of 10:
--Chest Presses
--Arm Extensions
--Butterflies
--Overhead Press
--Rows
--30 minutes on elliptical. 

Today's Workout:
--60 minutes of cardio
--planking for 3 minutes
--60 reverse crunches
--60 knee raises
(The last three I even did at home!)

My Diet yesterday of course consisted of chicken and water with a protein shake after my workout.
Today's diet will consist of chicken marinated in fat free Italian dressing.
I did get some sweet frog today as well.  I'll have to get better at that! :/
On the plus side I can tell that I am loosing some body fat on my stomach, which excites me to the max.  But still, PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!

Oh, I got my new bike today!
I am SUPER pumped about being able to ride all the time without spending $20 every four hours!

Day Six!

Why We Relay.
Hey Everybody!
I didn't write over the weekend, we all need some time off right?

Well, I was busy with Relay For Life, which was absolutely amazing!
I've attached some pictures of only a quarter of the fun that we had this weekend!

If you don't know what Relay For Life is, It's an all night relay that Ally and myself spent four months planning and organizing.  Our Team was the Thundercats. (:
Relay for Life raises money for cancer research.  The whole experience was SO WORTH the four months we took organizing everything. I could see myself doing it next year, If I'm a captain again, I expect all of you to be on my team. (;
The great thing about realy, it's also a workout as well! In total, I did 72 laps around the track.  I need to find out how many laps are in shepherds mile.  Then did water Zumba with my best friend.  It was so worth it, no doubt.

This weekend I also went biking again with my boyfriend.  We did about eleven miles all in all i'd say.
I had to still rent a bike, he has the money to go out and buy one, which he did!
So, I went to dicks this morning and bought my bike.  It needs to get the tune up, so I pick that up on Wednesday.  Staying healthy!
My first 5k is coming up too fast too!  April 14th!  Wow, so close.

Anyways, back on track to this week... It's going to be a good week for me. I hope that it is for you as well!  We only have about three weeks of school left! Wooo!

Today's Diet:
breakfast: half a banana and half a protein shake
lunch: lemon peppered chicken I just prepared with a salad topped with cheese and cranberries.
snack: protein shake
dinner: lemon peppered chicken with a handfull of grapes.

Today's Workout:
3 sets of 10
Leg Curls
Leg extensions

3 sets of 25
side crunches on the ab ball. (Both sides)
ab incline with 12 pound medicine ball

I know my workout was brief.  I have so much to do today!
I did take my dogs to the river to have some fun though. (:

Day five!

My computer, I tell you. Ugh!
Well, I am sorry about yesterday, I was just so busy!

I am writing this on the go as well, in between getting dressed and cooking my next two days worth of chicken.

By the way, you can't always be "strict" I totally had sweet frog the other day! Haha. (:

Yesterday's workout just consisted of Volleyball for two hours, that's all.




Today I will be at Relay for Life in Shepherdstown from 2 PM-6AM.  So, from all that running and walking around, you best bet I'll be getting some sort of a workout.  If you have time, come on down and show up! It'll be a blast, we'll be raffling off five free appetizers from Applebee's too!






Monday we'll get back on track with the workout program.
But the great thing to this program is that, you get the weekends off!
Go rejuvenate yourselves!  Don't forget to still eat clean!

Day three everyone!

Good morning everyone!
I'm up and at it earlier than I want to be.  Cooking today's meals since I won't be home for the rest of today!

On Today's menu:

Breakfast: 4 egg whites and one table spoon of peanut butter
Snack: Half a banana
Lunch: 5 ounces of chicken, and 4 ounces of green beans
Snack: Whey Protein Shake
Dinner: Repeat Lunch

This is breakfast.  I took four eggs and separated the yolk from the egg white and scrambled them.  I put just a hint of milk when I beated them.
After, I added a little bit of salt and pepper to taste. 
Egg whites are a great source of protein.  Once you get rid of the yolk the egg has very little carbs and virtually no fat!



Trial one was an error!
Finally, I guess we'll see how this turns out.  I thought we had the ingredients I needed.  Guess we didn't!  Gah.   I took two chicken breasts and cut them up into Chicken Steaks I guess you could say.  About 4-6 ounces each piece.  I seasoned them with natures seasoning blend, and put them in the oven for 30 minutes on 360 degrees.




Anyways, TODAY'S WORKOUT!  (:

Today I'll be doing cardio.
After softball practice today i'll be hitting up the gym. (:
--walk a half mile at an incline.
--row machine on level 10 for 15 minutes
--run a half mile
--bike for 30 minutes.

** I cannot stress enough that all day you should be drinking WATER. I have the flaw of not drinking enough.  Water is essential for your body to all of it's processes. I've felt light headed working out before, that should never be the case!

Day two!

SO, looks like i'll be going to the gym after school today!
I'm going to be so late to school, so i'll continue later.  Let me just tell you my workout for today!

Today I'll be doing 5 sets of 8
--Barbell deadlifts
--Sumo squats
--Walking lunges
--reverse lunges
--100 burpies
I'll add pictures later just in case you're confused about any of these exercises are.
I've gotta leave for school, like now!

Today's workout: CARDIO
--60 minutes of high intensity cycling or running. (30 seconds 100% and then 1:30 60%)

Well, i figured out that my IPad was the reasoning that my first post got deleted, along with a few others.
But, I am going to start fresh since I am starting my three week workout plan today.
So, just to let you know what I did this morning..
I ran my "5K" that I'll be running on April 14th.  I started off with a walk of  .40 miles, I ran 3.33 miles in 41:15, and then ended with a cool down walk that was also .40 miles.
I know you people reading this know where Harpers Ferry and the C&O canal are.  Well, that's where I enjoy doing most of my running and biking.  The change of scenery is so much nicer than running on a treadmill at the gym!

Well, my intentions were to tell you my diet for the day, but looks like i'll just have to wait to do that tonight.
If I don't get dressed pronto, looks like I'll be late for work! :0

Holy bajeebus I am tired!
But as I said I would, I am letting you know what I eat everyday.  I try to eat all healthy foods, but as you'll find out.. Some things are just too hard to get rid of.  It takes work. No joke!
Breakfast: Frosted Mini Wheats with low fat milk.
Snack: handful of cranberries
Lunch: Ham and cheese Sandwhich
Snack: one protein peanut putter cookie
Dinner: Salad with low fat ranch, added with a little bit of shreaded cheese and cranberries.
(Then momma and daddy brought me cheese fries at work from Glory Days, sigh)

At least we did that cardio today right?
I have a 1500 calorie limit for the day.  On most days I don't even reach it. I have an app on my ipad called myfitnesspal, it helps me a LOT!   You write down everything you eat in a day and it not only calculates how many calories you have eaten in that day, but the amount of nutrients you've been consuming.  Oh, not to mention you can record your exercises too!

Hey Everyone!

So, believe it or not, I get questions all the time asking what my workout routine is and how I eat. This of course absolutely flatters me, by the way!  Well, being that I am bored at home on spring break, I decided to start a blog to answer your questions! Yay!

First off I want to say that I've always enjoyed reading fitness articles and I care passionately about sports and being fit.  We all have our ups and downs trying to stay fit, and don't think I haven't had them as well. I have had my own obstacles I've had to face.
I get complimented all the time about how awesome my body is and how people want to trade bodies.  Like I said this flatters me, but I want perfection.  I've been working since January, (note after all the yummy holidays. :D) and I am happy with my results!

I've been 5'5, almost 5'6 since my junior year in high school. Well, my senior year I hit 140 pounds, and this about scared the crap out of me!  This was a huge wake up call.  Bittersweet enough, a breakup my senior year caused me to lose some of that weight, and ever since graduating, I've stayed from 135-130 pounds, which was always good enough for me.

Because of my need to try new things, I decided to enter two pageants.  One was January 28, 2012 and the other being February 17, 2012.  I give this dedication I now have completely to the two pageants I decided to do in the beginning of this year.  Walking in front of a crowd of people in a bathing suit is something to be proud of!  Especially for a shy girl such as myself! (:

Because of this need to experience and try new things, I've been looking into not body building competitions, but figure competitions.  I don't want to be one of those macho ladies that is bigger than your boyfriend, but that pretty woman, with curled hair, that everyone wishes that they were.  :D haha!
My ultimate goal is to achieve the body that I have been wanting all my life. A perk after that would be to send pictures into some agencies i've been looking up, and become a fitness model?    Eh, well just start with the body first. (;

So, starting this week I'm going to do what I have to do to achieve a body that is cruise worthy. ('cause I am going on my first cruise this summer too!)

This blog is just to showcase what I do activity wise, and what I eat to stay healthy.
I'll be answering questions, telling you my thoughts, and giving you tips to achieve that body that YOU feel your best in!
